Collateral a crime thiller, directed by Michael Mann and Stuart Beattie realsed in 2004. The thiller see’s American texi driver Max Durocher (Jamie Foxx ) held hostage as a hitman Vincent (Tom Cruise) as he is forced to drive him to each location were his next victim awaits. Throughout tehe film we see Max trying to save himself from what Vincent is capable of, as the film evolves Max realises that Vincent is working his way through a list of who he is going to kill and his final victim is Annie a girl that Max had met just moments before he met Vincent, Max’s biggest mission is to save her.
Suspense is used throughout this film to create tension. One of the first obvious moments were suspense is created os when Max is waiting for Vincent in the cab listening to classical music when a dead body ands on the bonnet of the taxi. The classical music is used to create suspense, when the music reaches its peak and the wideshots of the car lets you no that something is going to happen. Another part of the film were suspense is created is when Max finally flips out at Vincent whilst he is driving the taxi and he crashes it into the pile of rubble. As Max makes the sharp turns and the music gets louder and louder the suspense is buiding up more and more.
In the final scenes of the film there are two sections of the film were suspense is built up. The first clip were suspense is created is when Max is looking at the building were Annie works and he can see both Annie and Vincent. Vincent is trying to catch Anni e as Max looks on helplessly knowing he cannont do anything. The main reason why this builds up suspsense is because the audience no exactly whats going on and this makes them feel anxious as to whats going to happen. The final scene were suspense is created is on the train – the flashing of the lights, fast pase music, the gun shot and loud noises all build up anxieti.
