News and Current Affairs that could help my thriller.

Haiti

An earthquake hit Haiti on Tuesday 12th January 2010. As Haiti is one of the poorest countries of the westend hemisphere, the eathquake didnt help this corrupt country. After the shock of the first earthquake, the surroundings and buildings of Haiti were completely demolished. Rubble and bricks was all to be seen throughout the city. Leaving a large majority of people injured, lost and even worst dead.

Video footage of the damage cause by the earthquake.

Footballers attacked after a game in South Africa.

After a tense game of football Togo travelled to their hotel from the stadium. Without realising that they were about to experience one of the worst situtations that they have ever endured in their life. Gunmen were found shooting at the Togo team bus killing their assitant coach and the teams spokesman while injuring eight others.

Terrorist attack on Plane

With the excitement and anticipation of christmas around the corner, noone would expect that a terrorist attack was about to happen. On 25rd December 2009, Mr Abdulmutallab boarded flight 253 from Detroit to Amsterdam, with a bomb strapped to his leg. While thinking that he succeeded in his quest, others around him suddenly discovered the bomb after fumes and flames started to appear. They then started to retaliate and helped to stop the bomb from exploding. He now is facing attemped murder of 289 people.

All of these terrific stories could help me when I am creating my thriller opening scene.
