Analysis for the opening scene for No Country For Old Men

In the opening scene for the thriller No Country For Old Men there is a man with a western accent talking over the clip, whilst the man is talking there is an establishing shot over an American desert whilst the sun is rising. Through the Mise-en-scene of the clip we are able to see the surroundings and it gives us a clear view of were the setting for the film is going to be. After the series of still images are shown the camera pans around the desert to the car were there is the first sight of a characters. As we are not actually introduced to the characters suspence is immediatley created were the audience wants to know who they are and there connection to the film. The footsteps and the sound of the car driving away adds to the suspence.
