Analysis of No Country For Old Men opening scene

No Country For Old Men


The audience get to see the opening scene of this film through many establishing shots letting the audience are getting the chance to get a sense of location, which we discover was in the dessert. The directors Ethan and Joel Coen added a male narrative on top of the images. I think this was good as it was able to make the opening scene more interesting.

The narrative is able to help create fill the scene with tension and suspense as there is nothing going on in the background apart from still images of the surroundings. this is soon interrupted when the audience get to see a police man walking towards the police car and putting a gas can into the car. Music soon begins when the police car drives away
