Opening scene of 'No country for Old Men opening scene -
Within this opening scene, we see a lot of establishing shots which includes an early morning sun set which has been set in the desert. This helps to set the scene. Although I personally think that these shots are very dull. The directors 'Joel and Ethan Coen' cleverly disguised this by adding a narrative voice.
But however this silence behind the narrative voice, fills the scene with suspense and tension for the audience as they feel that it soon will be interupted. This eventually happens as a wide angle shot suddenly appears. The audience then see a police man arresting another male. A shot of the police car speeding through the desert, breaks the deadly silence as music in the background begins to play.
